Fall Camping Offered in More Than 50 Provincial Park Campgrounds

September 7, 2017

Citizens across the province are invited to experience the beauty of fall in a Saskatchewan Provincial Park.

“This weekend is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the warm weather that is forecasted across Saskatchewan,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Gene Makowsky said.  “With school back in session for the year, families can make the final moments of summer count with one last camping trip to a Saskatchewan Provincial Park.  Our parks are wonderful places to get out and explore, make memories or simply relax.”

Campsites can be reserved in advance at Blackstrap, Buffalo Pound, Cypress Hills, Duck Mountain, Moose Mountain and Rowan’s Ravine.  These parks offer access to full amenities throughout September, and some into October as well.  The sites can be booked through our online reservation system or by calling 1-855-737-7275.  By reserving in advance, visitors are guaranteed their chosen campsite will be available upon arrival.

To plan a park visit this fall, refer to Sask Park’s website at www.saskparks.com for all fall camping information.  Explore park trails, head out for a kayak on the lake or enjoy a picnic in a park.

Information on how to reserve a campsite online is available to those who are new to the online reservation system.  Campgrounds that are available exclusively on a first-come, first-served, self-registration basis are listed on Sask Park’s fall camping page.

As a reminder, the fire ban issued on August 31 remains in place for provincial parks south of the Churchill River.  For the duration of the ban, no open fires are permitted.  Fireworks are also prohibited.

For cooking and heating purposes, the following items are allowed:

  • Self-contained heating devices
  • Gas barbecues
  • Propane fire pits
  • Charcoal briquettes used in park-provided barbecues and fire pits

The fire ban will remain in place until conditions improve and the Ministry of Environment rescinds the order.
