HIGHWAY 7 TWINNING CONTINUES

June 15, 2017

Work on Twinning Highway 7 from Delisle to Vanscoy is Currently Underway

This year crews will twin 10 kilometres of Highway 7 between Delisle and Vanscoy.  Work will also include the realignment of rural municipality roads, two new railway crossings, the movement of 570,000 cubic mettrs of dirt and the installation of 51 new culverts.

“We are pleased to see twinning work progressing on Highway 7 between Saskatoon and Delisle,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit said.  “The communities along this corridor are growing rapidly, which has contributed to a traffic increase from 5,000 to 9,100 vehicles per day in the last ten years.  Twinning the highway in this area will enhance safety and improve traffic flow.”

Newly twinned lanes between Saskatoon and Vanscoy were opened to traffic last fall.

Drivers are reminded to slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment and observe the posted speed limits in construction zones.

If you’re planning a trip this summer, check the Highway Hotline at www.saskatchewan.ca/highwayhotline.  The Highway Hotline provides up-to-date information on construction, emergency road closures, the status of ferries, barges and other road activities.

A weekly construction update is also published on www.saskatchewan.ca/residents/transportation/highway-construction-projects/weekly-highway-construction-update to provide the travelling public with the latest details on projects underway to help plan safe and efficient travel.

The Government of Saskatchewan has invested $7.4 billion in transportation infrastructure since 2008, improving more than 12,000 kilometres of provincial roads.
